Sugarbottom Lane

Sugarbottom Lane is a dark place. Even though it's inspired by a park located in Iowa.

Freeloader

This song appeared on our 2004 album, The Cheapass Album, an album filled with songs about or inspired by the off-beat, quirky board and card games of Cheapass Games, this one having been inspired by a game coincidentally called Freeloader.

Turning Caffeine Into Code (Live WLUW)

In April, Tom, Randy, and Ryan played a few songs live on The Razor and Di Show on WLUW in Chicago. Luckily it was recorded so we can bring you our highly caffeinated live recording of Turning Caffeine Into Code.

You're Not Right (But You'll Do)

We realized there weren't any songs written in tribute to settling for second place and giving up on your dreams. That just didn't seem right to us, so we wrote this one.

Her Imaginary Closet

Women, shopping, clothes, and the changing rooms. Scientific studies have suggested that the behavioral pattern of trying on clothes but rarely purchasing them is tied to the two-X genome. Those of the opposite sex tend to just buy what fits. When Jason read of these studies, well, it just HAD to go into a song.

Yep, this song was also slated as a track for BT's follow up to their debut album What We've Got. However, Santa Doesn't Like You, The Cheapass Album, one live album, The Song Of The Day, and two RPM Challenge albums (All In A Day's Work and Sham Rock) delayed the album this song was to appear on. Well, until now.

The even older demo for demo for Her Imaginary Closet appeared last year right here at TheSongOfTheDay.com.

Corporate World Danny

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away... Beatnik Turtle had plans to make a second album (right after their debut CD What We've Got). A project called Santa Doesn't Like You delayed that album a bit. Then along came the Cheapass project, a live album, a tiny project called The Song Of The Day, and two RPM Challenges which produced All In A Day's Work and Sham Rock. Now finally we'd like to take you way back in time to our very next album, perpetually code named "BT2". Although this song is a live show favorite and has been performed tons of times (check out Thanks For Coming Out! Beatnik Turtle Live! for a great live version), we finally recorded a studio version of it.

The even older demo for demo for Corporate World Danny appeared last year right here at TheSongOfTheDay.com.

Final Scene

This week sees the end of Irish rock releases from our album, Sham Rock. For this week's song we partnered with up-and-coming singer-songwriter Chris Campbell to produce his first release, "Final Scene" which will appear on Chris's debut EP "Celebrate by Sleeping" this July.

This song is from our new album Sham Rock. We couldn't resist breaking out the traditional Irish instruments halfway through this one.

Johnny Jump Up

Never never again. How many times have we all uttered that statement the "morning after?" This song from our new album Sham Rock explores the regrets from the night before and blames it all on "the drink."
