Our Trip To Mardi Gras (Beatnik Turtle Music)

Songs Inspired By Actual Events, Songs with Accordion

Heading down I-57
Me, Matt, Bill, Eric, and Kevin
Making the trek to the Big Easy
For the party of the century

So we bellied up to Pat O'Brien's
Drank four or five Hurricanes, no lyin'
All that booze coursing through my veins
Turns out it was a mixture I wouldn't contain

Our trip to Mardi Gras
Was to the best of all time

That night I puked in a taxi
Nailed the cabbie, Eric, and me
The driver asked "Did you just barf in my cab?"
I said you would too if you drank as much as I had

Now the good news he didn't make us pay
But the bad news was that he sped away
Leaving us just two drunken victims in beads
Stranded on the wrong side of New Orleans

Our trip to Mardi Gras
Was to the best of all time

We ended up that night in jail
None of my good friends would post bail
They all laughed and thought it was so funny
Besides they'd spent all of their money

Well Eric no longer talks to me
I have to go through his attorney
Despite all this I'll be back next year
'Cause that's when I'm supposed to get out of here

Our trip to Mardi Gras
Was the worst trip of all time
